Early Spring: Corsica 09
Off we were, with my moms shopping car this time to Corsica. When most of the Alpine creeks are still frozen or low, Corsica gets enough water and the wetter is already summer-like. Life’s good! So after a little session in Lyon we drove to Toulon, where we met Valentine en Gauthier Grollemond on the boat which was loooong: 10 hours.
So anyway, it turned out to be a week full of frenchies when we met Romain Dumoulin (the kiwi), Mathieu Coldebella (cave-man), Jules Domine (Smooth boy) and Alex Jackette (Lunatic no doubt)! AS my french is the worst there is, I was happy with some tolks, and off course great people to be on and off the water on. YES, we DID find a place to party on this island: Levi!
Paddling in Corsica is amazing with steep creeks and beautiful nature. Every creek has it’s own style and is different except that they are all steep. Now the main excuse to go here was the damming in the Rizzanese, which will destroy some of Corsicans best rivers the Actual Rizzanese and the Codi. Both were great rivers, and after doing the upper-Rizzanese we decided to run the Classic section again to make sure we had the most time possible on the very last run.
Now I’m not really into writing (already took me like 2 weeks to get to this) so just watch the pictures and post a comment! Thanks to all who have helped making this trip to a ‘awesome’ one, our favorite word these days;-)
