Dutch Rafting champs 09
This weekend it was on again, no kayaking this time but rafting. For the 5th year Teva organized the Dutch Rafting Champs in the French alps. The event is always super sweet and well organized and this time it was no difference. Together with Teva riders Casper van Kalmthout, Arnd Schaftlein and Sven Joos we formed a team helped by people from the Teva Office. Only problem was we didn’t have enough people and so we got disqualified at the end.
The competition exists of three parts, head-to-head, slalom and downriver. Now the slalom went really well after some serious training (which consisted of lifting the left arm basicly) and we ended up 5th there. The other two we did 7th on the downriver and 9th on the head-to-head, all by all a 7th place wouldn’t we we disqualified!
Casper and Sven also paddled the Guil which was absolutly at flood, never seen it like that before. It changed into this massive volume river, very cool and it was too bad I had to be the shuttle bunny. Anyways, a trip full of rafting was a very good way to get fit and have fun on the river. Next year we’ll bring out a dream team….
